Drain cleaning and unclogging
Most blocked drains clear in under an hour. What matters more is knowing *why* it blocked — because a drain that clogs twice in a year isn't a clog problem, it's a pipe problem, and clearing it again won't fix that.
We clear the blockage, then put a camera down to show you what caused it.
What's blocked?
Kitchen sink. Almost always grease. It goes down warm and liquid, cools in the horizontal run, and collects everything after it. Cabling punches a hole through it; hydro jetting actually removes it — which is why grease blockages recur after cabling and don't after jetting.
Bathroom sink or shower. Hair and soap scum, usually within the first metre. Often the cheapest call we take.
Toilet. Wipes, sanitary products, or too much paper. If a plunger hasn't cleared it, stop — repeated hard plunging on a fully blocked line can crack a bowl.
Main line — everything backing up at once. More than one fixture backing up, or a toilet gurgling when the washing machine drains, means the blockage is in the main. This is the one to take seriously. Sewer line repair
Floor drain or laundry backing up. Often the lowest point in the system, which means it's the first place a main-line blockage shows itself.
How we clear it
Cabling (snaking) — a motorised cable that breaks through the blockage. Fast, effective for hair, paper, soft obstructions. Good first response.
Hydro jetting — high-pressure water that scours the pipe wall clean. The right answer for grease, sludge and root intrusion, because it removes the material rather than boring through it. Hydro jetting
Camera inspection — after clearing, we look. Recurring blockages are usually caused by something structural: root intrusion at a joint, a bellied section holding water, a collapsed length, or a poorly graded run. You should know which. Camera inspection
Please don't use chemical drain cleaner
We say this on every call. Caustic drain cleaners damage older pipes, particularly cast iron and ABS, and they rarely clear a real blockage — they sit on top of it. Then when we open the line, someone gets a face full of caustic liquid. If you've used one, tell us; it changes how we approach the job.
