The things worth doing before they fail
Shut-off valves. Old gate valves seize. You find out when you urgently need to close one. Replacing the main and the fixture valves is cheap and it's the difference between a small leak and a flooded floor.
Hot water tank flush and anode check. Annually. Extends the tank's life materially and almost nobody does it. Tank repair
Washing machine hoses. Rubber hoses fail, and they fail under full mains pressure with nobody home. Braided stainless replacements cost very little. This is one of the most common causes of serious water damage in a house.
Dishwasher and fridge supply lines. Same reasoning.
Toilet supply lines and fill valves. A failed fill valve running unnoticed is expensive on a water bill; a failed supply line is expensive on the floor below.
Outdoor taps before winter. Disconnect hoses, drain, and shut off the interior isolation valve if you have one. A frozen hose bib splits inside the wall and you find out at the spring thaw.
Drain maintenance. Enzyme treatments and hot water rather than caustic drain cleaner. Drain cleaning

Multiple small jobs in one visit priced together
If you have a list of small things, save them up and do them in one visit. It's substantially cheaper than four separate call-outs, and we'd rather tell you that than attend four times.
